We had opportunity to attend The Gallery this past weekend January 9th at MGM Grand Detroit.  This event is a Private Charity event of Ultra-Luxury Automotive show.  Some of the most rare exotics you’ll ever see in one room to kick off the 2016 North American International Auto Show.

This is the 9th year this event has been held with over 7 million worth of exotic vehicles.  One in particular is the Aston Martin DB10 as seen in the latest James Bond Spectre.  This is a concept vehicle and no price has been shared but hints of it exceeding 2.5 million.  There was several other exotic vehicles on display including a pair of Lingenfelter Corvettes, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Bently, Rolls, Royce, Ford GT Race Car, Acura NSX, Viper ACR, Range Rover, Falcon F7, and Porsche.

2015 North American International Auto Show - Media Day 1

As it was a VERY busy day 1 of the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), I have finally been able to catch up and give you all a short recap of the first day of media day January 12, 2015. There was over 5700 journalist to attend this year being one of the most attended events of the year.

First thing that took place to kick of the 2015 North American International Auto Show was the announcement of the Truck and Car of the year.  The North American car of the year was the Volkswagen Golf.  Which it beat out an impressive Hyundai Genesis and a new sporty look of the Ford Mustang.

The North American Truck of the year went to the newly designed Ford F-150.  Beating out the Chevy Colorado and Lincoln MKC.  Both winners were well received and able to brag till 2016.

The biggest news going it to day 1 was the reveal of the new Acura NSX and the Ford GT.  Both were the only manufactures to not spill out what they were showing.  Sunday two manufactures did do a private reveal.  Buick showed of their new 2016 Cascada Convertible after a 25 year absence in the convertible market scheduled to go on sale early 2016 and new Buick Avenir Concept.

The other manufacture to have an early release was the Infinity Q60 Concept.  New look to the future of Infinity.  Below is a video of executive director Alfonso Albaisa discusses the design and inspiration of the design.

It was a busy day for sure as many automakers were getting ready.  There were many reveals made and news giving from just about everyone who presented that day.  Be honest, what stole the day was the reveal of the Acura NSX & Ford GT.  Other manufactures also had big reveals including the new Alfa Romeo 4C & 4C Spyder, Hyundai revealing the new Santa Cruz concept, BMW with the new M6 and convertible, Mercedes GLE, VW Cross Coupe GTE V6 Plug In, Toyota Tacoma, Nissan Titan, Ford Raptor and Mustang GT350r, Porsche 911 Targa GTS, Mini Cooper John Cooper, Chevy Bolt, Audi Q7, Bentley Mulsannespeed , Continental GT convertible & Flying Spur W12 and to finish ot Guangzhou GS4.

As you can see it’s been a busy day.  It truly was a jammed pack day with so much information being given in so little time.  Overall I can see all manufactures making big strives to improving their brands and keeping it affordable for all markets.  The automotive industry has defiantly made it more difficult to chose the best car for you as all make incredible cars.  Below is a recap of the photographs taken from Day 1.  I will be posting individual reveals with more details soon.

AMA Pro Superbike Subway Doubleheader Day 1 May 31, 2014

The AMA Pro Road Racing Subway Superbike Doubleheader returned for Round 2 at Road America in Elkhart Lake, WI.  Day one turned out to be a beautiful day of racing, with temperatures reaching the low 80’s.  Several riders were here looking to repeat their winning ways, including Corey Alexander, Josh Hayes, Danny Eslick, & Cameron Beaubier, but certainly don’t leave out Roger Hayden, Martin Cardenas, Jake Gagne, Jake Lewis and Hayden Gillim to name a few.  There were so many great riders out there that anyone could take the checkered flag.

Road America is one of the most challenging race tracks in the world, with 14 turns in just over 4 miles.   Along with these curves, the track has plenty of high speed straightaways.  Many of the best riders in the world have raced at this track, dating back to 1955.

All classes provided nail biting adrenaline highs from start to finish.  In the SuperSport class, Corey Alexander dominated from start to finish in an impressive manner on his Celtic Racing Suzuki GSX-R600.  This is especially impressive considering he is recovering from a shoulder surgery he had 2 weeks ago, and had staples removed earlier in the week. Coming in 2nd was Dustin Dominquez on his Yamaha R6 and Hayden Gillim rounded out the top 3 on his Suzuki GSX-R600.

In the GoPro Daytona Sportbike, the Road Race Factory Red Bull Racing Yamaha Jake Gagne took the checkered flag after battling with 2nd place Garret Gerloff and 3rd place finisher JD Beach, both from Yamaha Extended Service Graves Motorsport on Yamaha R6’s.  Two accidents brought out the red flag during this race.  The first involved Danny Eslick on his Riders Discount Racing Triumph Daytona 675.  He crashed coming out of turn 13 and skidded for a good distance until the bike ran straight into the wall.  A fan was able to catch video of the incident and Danny was able to get up under his own power, though he did injured his left hand.  The second incident was young and upcoming 16 year old rider Joe Roberts racing with an M4 Motorcycle Road Racing Honda CBR600RR.  He was coming out of turn 5 and took it a bit too wide and crashed in the 10th lap out of 12.  He was unable to continue and later announced he had landed on his stomach and broke his finger.   Joe looks to be out for couple of weeks and is hoping to be well in time for 3rd Round.  I was able to get some photographs of Joe going down, but rest assured he is doing well…just a bit sore.

It was a battle of teammates of the Monster Energy Graves Yamaha team.  Cameron Beaubier and Josh Hayes went back and forth on their Yamaha R1’s.  Cameron took the lead in the later laps to take the checkered flag.  This certainly was a close race with .306 separating the two.  Martin Cardenas came in 3rd from Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing on a Suzuki GSX-R1000.

Battle between #36 Cardenas leading in first lap coming out of Turn 5 being pressured by #4 Hayes and #2 Beaubier

First place #2 Cameron Beaubier, 2nd #4 Josh Hayes and 3rd #36 Martin Cerdenas

There was lots of competition in all 3 classes that raced on day one, and I definitely looked forward to what day 2 would bring and what modifications the teams would make to take the checkered flag.  Good thing I was able to bring my scooter this year because without it I don’t think I would have been able to give you the footage I was able to get.  Thank you to Toyota USA for lending me a brand new Tundra 1794 Edition to ride to the event.  Also big thanks to Road America and AMA Pro Racing for the opportunity to be able to cover the event.  Keep an eye out for the day two report.

Cars & Coffee Meet- Liquid Fusion in Lincolnshire,IL April 26th

Liquid Fusion - Lincolnshire, IL -

Liquid Fusion - Lincolnshire, IL -

On April 26, I attended my first Cars & Coffee meet of the year.  The meet took place at Liquid Fusion in Licolnshire,IL and was hosted by Johan Lee.  Being fairly new to the area, I try to attend as many events as I can.  Today was a great day to have a meet for various car enthusiasts.  All makes and models were on hand, and it was a great chance for owners to meet new people throughout the day.  From McLarens and Lamborghinis  to Subarus and Hondas, a wide variety of vehicles were on display.   Even a few motorcycles stopped by.  All were well received and had one thing in common, the love of the aftermarket automotive industry.

The event started at 11am, and one of the first groups to arrive was Chicago Rally.  This group had a large following that just kept rolling in.  Throughout the day, cars came in and out.  I spoke to several drivers who attend many of these meets, and they agreed that this was one of the best meets they have been to in a while.  Everyone was friendly and open to talk about what was done to their cars.   For the local community, it was also well received.  At times you’d see a family taking pictures with several vehicles, and you could see the owners of the vehicles really enjoying the moment.  Adventure SuperCars brought in several Lamborghini’ and Nissan GTRs, displaying them and talking to customers about these awesome machines.  This is what it's all about; having fun and meeting new people.  It was a little cold considering you looked out the window to see sunny blue skies, but not many were tempted to go out in shorts.  It was a cold one for sure.  I found myself getting several refills at Liquid Fusion and eating lunch at Red Robin.  Looking forward to the next meet and hope to run into you all again.
