2015 Chicago Auto Show

Reveal of the 2016 Toyota Avalon

Chicago, it’s back, and it’s returned with a vengeance! The 2015 Chicago Auto is the largest and longest auto show in the nation. The location is again at the lakefront McCormick Place Convention Center, which provides plenty of room for automakers to display their awesome designs.  With over 1 million square feet of exhibition space to explore, you will encounter lots of opportunities to see both concept and production vehicles that are newly revealed.

Nissan Nismo GTR Le Mans Race Car

Many automakers staged the world debut of new concept vehicles, including the following: Kia Soul Trailster; Honda with a sneak peek of the Ridgeline rendering; Nissan 370z Nismo convertible; and the Mitsubishi GC-PHEV concept SUV.  All these are concept vehicles, but we will soon see them transformed into production vehicles. The production vehicles revealed included the Honda Pilot, Toyota Avalon, Acura RDX, Chevy Silverado & Equinox, Dodge Ram 1500 Limited, Hyundai Veloster Rally Car, VW Golf R, Ford Explorer Interceptor, and the Ford Mustang GT350.

I am happy to share that yes, the highly talked about vehicles from NAIAS will be on display - the Ford GT and the Acura NSX.  Both of these are stunning must see vehicles and certainly will be the talk of the show. Don’t forget about other great exhibitions including the Toyota, Dodge & Jeep test tracks.  These provide a great way to experience firsthand how a vehicle reacts during harsh road conditions and/or the way car drives itself.  There are also racing simulators at Hyundai, VW, State Farm, Ford and Toyota.

Alfa Romeo has returned to the auto show, bringing with them two just released beauties - the 4C and the 4C Spyder.  Hyundai has a large display of SEMA project vehicles, as well as two vehicles created by local designers from Chicago, which are on display at the ABC 7 booth.  Every manufacturer has great feature displays.  Some of the outstanding ones that I recommend are Chevy Volt, Cadillac CTS-V & ATS-V, Jaguar F-Type, BMW M6, Mercedes, Lexus GS-F, Audi, and the Nismo line up at Nissan.  Trust me, there is plenty to see!

If you are in mood to see exotic vehicles, make your way to the Super Car Gallery, where some of the most expensive and unique exotic vehicles you will see are all in one place.  This is a jaw dropping display of high end vehicles you’ll only see in magazines and movies.

I’m saving the best for last of course.  For all of you Chicago Blackhawks fans, be sure to make your way to the Chevy Dealership Family Fun area, brought to you by Chevy Drives Chicago.  Here you can get up close and personal with the 2015 Chicago Blackhawks Theme Chevy Camaro SS Convertible that will be given away at the end of the season.  There are also get fun games to play and merchandise for purchase.

2015 North American International Auto Show - Media Day 1

As it was a VERY busy day 1 of the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), I have finally been able to catch up and give you all a short recap of the first day of media day January 12, 2015. There was over 5700 journalist to attend this year being one of the most attended events of the year.

First thing that took place to kick of the 2015 North American International Auto Show was the announcement of the Truck and Car of the year.  The North American car of the year was the Volkswagen Golf.  Which it beat out an impressive Hyundai Genesis and a new sporty look of the Ford Mustang.

The North American Truck of the year went to the newly designed Ford F-150.  Beating out the Chevy Colorado and Lincoln MKC.  Both winners were well received and able to brag till 2016.

The biggest news going it to day 1 was the reveal of the new Acura NSX and the Ford GT.  Both were the only manufactures to not spill out what they were showing.  Sunday two manufactures did do a private reveal.  Buick showed of their new 2016 Cascada Convertible after a 25 year absence in the convertible market scheduled to go on sale early 2016 and new Buick Avenir Concept.

The other manufacture to have an early release was the Infinity Q60 Concept.  New look to the future of Infinity.  Below is a video of executive director Alfonso Albaisa discusses the design and inspiration of the design.

It was a busy day for sure as many automakers were getting ready.  There were many reveals made and news giving from just about everyone who presented that day.  Be honest, what stole the day was the reveal of the Acura NSX & Ford GT.  Other manufactures also had big reveals including the new Alfa Romeo 4C & 4C Spyder, Hyundai revealing the new Santa Cruz concept, BMW with the new M6 and convertible, Mercedes GLE, VW Cross Coupe GTE V6 Plug In, Toyota Tacoma, Nissan Titan, Ford Raptor and Mustang GT350r, Porsche 911 Targa GTS, Mini Cooper John Cooper, Chevy Bolt, Audi Q7, Bentley Mulsannespeed , Continental GT convertible & Flying Spur W12 and to finish ot Guangzhou GS4.

As you can see it’s been a busy day.  It truly was a jammed pack day with so much information being given in so little time.  Overall I can see all manufactures making big strives to improving their brands and keeping it affordable for all markets.  The automotive industry has defiantly made it more difficult to chose the best car for you as all make incredible cars.  Below is a recap of the photographs taken from Day 1.  I will be posting individual reveals with more details soon.

2015 NAIAS Day one key revealed vehicles.

Day 1 is in the books.  So many news to be updated after today but these two production vehicles stole the show.  The Acura NSX has been in the works for the last several years and finally after all the wait it's now here.  Acura says it's target release date will be something in fall.  Retailing approximately $150k.  On the Ford GT, well it really took everyone by surprise.  Stunning vehicle and Ford didn't mention how much it would be but did say it is target to be released next year.

Both of these Super Cars was well received and look forward to seeing it on the road.  It's been a long day but will be sharing updates soon.

2015 North American International Auto Show - Cobo Center - Detroit, MI

It’s been a great year in the automotive industry.  Many manufacturers debuted new vehicles earlier in the year that have just now hit the show room floors.  Now that 2014 is coming to an end and 2015 is just around the corner, it’s time for us look ahead to attending The North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) at Cobo Center in Detroit, MI during the week of January 11, 2015.

Last year the big talk was Toyota debuting the Toyota FT-1.  This reveal took many by surprise and left us drooling over the concept vehicle.  Others that made big impressions in 2014 were Infinity with the Q50 Eau Rouge, Lexus’ RC-F , and Bentley’s new Continental GT, to name a few.  Volvo won the Best Concept Vehicle and Excellence in Innovation awards with its concept XC Coupe. I can’t wait to see who makes the biggest splash and takes top honors this year.

The NAIAS is always the most anticipated auto show, being that it’s held in the automotive capitol of the world.  The LA Auto Show wrapped up last month and several manufacturers debuted new models for the up coming year, which was a good teaser leading up to the NAIAS.  I am really looking forward to attending this event and sharing all of the newest vehicles.  Over 5,500 journalists will be on hand to cover the event, making it one of the largest automotive events with media coverage.  Stay tuned and make sure to follow us on Instagram and or Twitter for updates.

Muscle Car & Corvette Nationals at Rosemont, IL

I had the opportunity to attend the Muscle Car & Corvette Nationals held at Rosemont Convention Center just outside of Chicago, IL on the weekend of Saturday November 22 through Sunday November 23rd.  This event was open to the public at $25 to enter and those 12 years and younger were free.

This was truly a great event to attend as we are entering the cold months in Chicago.  Usually around September, locals put their vehicles away for the winter, but many seemed to have postponed that this year.  Lucky for me and those in attendance, the best of the best muscle cars and Corvettes were on display.  I noticed that there was a wide range of ages in attendance, and many of the older generation took the chance to tell the younger ones about the cars they had growing up, or wish they had growing up.  I overheard some of these stories, and it made me look forward to doing the same with my sons one day.

The cars that were showcased included many different models, some of which I didn’t even know existed.  Many were part of rare collections, and were way older than me and in even better condition than me OR my brand new car.  The amount of variety and horsepower was staggering to me.  Aside from reliving childhood, car owners had the opportunity to buy, sell and trade with other aficionados.  In addition, the back of the hall was dedicated to vehicles that were there for selling of parts only, and there were special areas dedicated to accessories, bicycles and live music.

The founders of this show hail from all over the country, and are automotive enthusiasts who strive to put on a top notch event for all to enjoy.  They have the experience and knowledge to know what works and what doesn’t, so the show is guaranteed to be enjoyable to all.  If you didn’t have a chance to attend (or just want to see if I snapped a photo of your beautiful car), please check out the photo album.  I also highly recommend putting this event on your calendar for 2015, I know I will.
